Daily Blessings… sometimes it’s good to be uncomfortable…but not too uncomfortable.

I had the occasion to be waaaaaay outside my comfort zone yesterday.  I knew it was coming and a big part of me didn’t want to go there.  I was scared and nervous and worried about making mistakes,  being  judged and being successful.dsc_0051

Fortunately I wanted to do it more than I didn’t want to do it… if that makes sense.  Dr Phil would say that my payoff for taking the risks was greater than my fear.

It got me thinking about our comfort zones.  I would like to share this with you.

Think of a number scale from 0 to 10

0   1   2   3   4   5   6   7   8   9   10

0 – 2 Couch potato zone. There is not much activity or challenge happening at this level.

  • Rest
  • Recharge the batteries
  • Quiet… still

2 – 5 1/2: Comfort zone. This is where most of us spend most of our time.

  • We drive the same way to work
  • Cook the same weekly meals
  • Watch the same programs on TV
  • Routine, routine, routine… comfortable…  it works…
  • There is not a lot of learning going on in the comfort zone.
  • The regular living zone

5 1/2 – 8: Learning zone. We are just uncomfortable enough to be creative and searching for new ideas.

  • We don’t have all the answers here
  • We are not sure of the outcome
  • We may have to take a risk
  • Yummy action hangs out here

8 – 10: Adrenelin zone: This is a once in a while zone.  We are not built to stay in this zone for extended periods of time.

  • Hard to learn when you are having the bejeebers scared out of you

The payoff is tremendous when you want an experience enough to risk being uncomfortable.

For me, I am so glad I took my risk yesterday.  I plan to do it again and again.  I will keep growing and learning and expanding.

I absolutely want to live a life of adventure.  I can handle my learning zone.  I just don’t plan on jumping out of any airplanes in the next little while… that would be a 10 for me… yikes!

It’s The Little Things… your joyful life…

Life is but a collection of happy moments all strung together like pearls…

A happy life is a stand of happy momentsThe little things that matter in a day:

  • feeding and tending the animals on time
  • drinking lots of water each day and taking my vitamins
  • wearing nice underwear
  • keeping in touch with my good friends
  • lighting candles and using cloth napkins at everyday meals
  • deciding to smile lots
  • listening to inspirational cd instead of news in the morning
  • bundling up and going for a walk even when it’s cold
  • giving and getting lots of hugs
  • wearing red lipstick on a Tuesday because I feel like it, even if I’m staying home all day… like today… hope the horses notice… heehee

I love the little things…  My day is a strand of happy moments… my life is a strand of happy days… when I look back on yesterday, I consider it a day well spent and enjoyed… I loved and was loved… by 2-leggeds and 4-leggeds…

Yummy Monday! How do you want to feel today?

Abundance of LifeMorning is the perfect time of the day to check in with how you are feeling.  Do a simple scan.

  • Did you wake up in a great mood?
  • Did you wake up and immediately begin to worry about something?
  • Are you excited about something?
  • Did you smile when you looked in the mirror?
  • Did you criticize yourself when you were getting dressed?

Know yourself…

If you are feeling anything that happy isn’t,  morning is a great time to deliberately decide to focus on positives.  There may indeed be some problems going on for you…but the habit of going over and over them,  will negatively affect your energy and attract more to feel bothered by.

You get what you focus on whether you want it or not… simple as that…

How do you want to feel today?  I really didn’t have to ask… of course you want to feel good…  You need to put thoughts in place that are going to produce good feelings…  your feeling always match your thinking… It really is very simple…

Spend your thinking time, thinking of something that makes you feel good… be deliberate about it… I know I am…
